Noah's Fleet

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)

Glaciers are the silent witnesses of climate change. This is why we have chosen their names for our vessels.

The hulls of all vessels are made of steel. Each vessel may have a different rig. They are modestly equipped but suitable for the safe crossing of any ocean and well equipped for education on board and team building exercises. The crews of each vessel will specialise in different subjects:

s/v “Athabasca”  - an artists impression

So, lets make the vessels of steel; make rooms in it and coat it with paint inside and out. This is how we are going to build them. Each hull will be 60 metre long, 11 metres wide and 10 metres high. Make a rig for it and canvas. Put a door in the sides of the coach roof and make lower and middle decks. Equip with all necessary equipment for sailing and navigation...Bring into the vessel young crew, researchers, scientists and teachers. Sails around the world and do what men have to do...

Tomasz M. Glowacki (1948 - )
