"All that we are is the result of what we have thought"

- Buddha

"If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain 'Move from here to there'and it will move. Nothing wil be impossible for you".

- Matthew 17:20

Welcome to Environmental Sailing Academy Trust

Project P - E - A - K

Planet, Education, Attitude and Kids

The Environmental Sailing Academy Trust has been formed for charity purposes. It was established to:

  • Learn and educate that we all live under the same sky and the Earth is for everyone
  • Facilitate scientific research and education on environmental matters
  • Provide young people access to character building programmes through sailing
  • Select, and inspire emerging young leaders from all nations of the world.

The Trust will cooperate with and make vessels available to any private person or institution who is interested in scientific research of the environment.

The vast majority of scientists agree that global warming is real, it’s already happening. The evidence is overwhelming and undeniable. We’re already seeing changes.  Scientists are however divided on what causes these changes. Is it natural cyclic process? Are these changes caused by movement of magnetic North? Or, it is the result of our activities and not a natural occurrence.

Carbon dioxide and other gases warm the surface of the planet naturally by trapping solar heat in the atmosphere. We have dramatically increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere and temperatures are rising. Additional, energy is in short supply, and many regions in the world are suffering because of a lack of fresh water. Industrial expansion and the need for development are exhausting the world’s natural resources and devastating the environment.

“Nature is innocent, abundant – but unforgiving. We have exploited her resources and she’s responding like a mirror, reflecting our gluttony, and plunder with dwindling resources, pollution, unclean air, unsafe water, toxic food, and cancerous by-products of technology. As we change our environment to suit our short-range ambitions, we risk the very survival of the human race.” – Dr. Denis Waitley (The Psychology of Winning)

Enlightenment is a key to progress”. – Tomasz (Tomek) M. Glowacki

“To me, the safe hope of human salvation lies in teaching”

- George Bernard Shaw

REASON - VOICES OF CONCERNS

“ The saddest aspect of life is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom. ”

- Isaac Asimov (1920-1992)

“ I don’t think there’s any doubt left for anybody who actually looks at the science. There are still some holdouts, but they are fighting a losing battle. The science is overwhelming ” – Hillary Clinton on Global Warming after bipartisan tour of Alaska

“ Melting glaciers in the Himalayas could lead to water shortages for hundreds of millions of people ” – Conservation group WWF

“ Some locals began to talk of “drunken forests”, caused as the frozen earth beneath Alaska’s forests of black spruce turned to mud. Trees collapsed. ”  –  Independent

“ The world faces an economic development catastrophe if the rate of global warming isn’t reduced ”  – Jennifer Morgan WWF

“ People in Alaska are starting to freak out. The retreat of the sea ice allows the oceans to pound the cost more and villages there are suffering from the effect of that erosion. Permafrost is melting, roads are buckling, and forests have been infested with beetles because of a rise in temperatures ”  – Dan Lashof, a scientist with the National Resources Defence Council (USA)

“Human history becomes more and more a race between
education and catastrophe”

- H.G. Wells (1866 - 1946)

VALUES

“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone
monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others”

- Pericles (495 - 425 BC

Sharing of knowledge

We share information appropriately and responsibly. We listen and work collaboratively. We believe in openess and effectiveness. We believe in straight dealing in all matters.

Respect for the environment and natural  resources

Sustainability is a key word. Good balance between what man needs and what he can get out of the environment is vital. Our responsibility is to keep the environment in balance for generations to come.

Dedication to scientific research
We see scientific research as a way of finding the facts and developing solutions.

Respect and dignity for animals
We agree with the following statement:“They (animals) breathe like we breathe. Their hearts beat like our hearts.”

Developing people to their full potential
We are committed to ensuring that skills, knowledge and talent are proactively identified and developed, and that our people are encouraged to challenge boundaries and develop leading-edge environmental solutions.

Freedom, justice and peace
Freedom, justice and peace are the base of proportional and balanced development of people and nations.

VISION

“A good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge”

- Bertrand Russell

To gather data, research, educate people and distribute information on the changes occurring to our environment and the importance of preserving it for generations to come.

To provide young people access to a character building programme through sailing training.

To give them an equal opportunity to learn and develop from each other's qualities of independence, understanding, tolerance and community spirit through the medium of the sea.

MISSION

“Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly
you are doing the impossible”

- Saint Francis of Assisi

Step one - Build seven (7) sailing vessels of approximately 60 m LOA.

Step two - Establish a “Sailing Academy”.

Step three - Sail to the many corners of the world proclaiming and heralding the need for halting deforestation, the need for reduction of emission of gases, the need for planting trees, exploration of renewable energies.

Step four- Visit many cities (harbours) and proclaiming the need for re-forestation, reduction of emission gases, exploitation of renewable energies, educate about climate & balance in nature.

Inspiration to our web site's name:

Aliquabdo Romae frumenti magna inopia erat. Tum Pompeius in Africam navigavit unde frumentum Romam advehere studebat.

A long time ago, when food was in short supply in Rome, Pompeius sailed to Africa to bring back food. When the ships were laden with grain, a storm stopped them from leaving the harbour. Sailors were afraid to sail on stormy waters. Then Pompeius first hoisted the sails and shouted: “Sailing is necessary, life is not necessary”.

- Pompeius
